Do I need to wear a lifejacket?
You are required by law to have an appropriately sized lifejacket on board for each person in every province in Canada, including Saskatchewan. While you are not legally required to wear it at all times, it’s strongly recommended for the safety of both you and your crew. The majority of boaters who are injured or killed on the water in Canada are not wearing correctly fitted lifejackets or even worse, are not wearing them at all. Don’t take the risk!
What kind of fish can I catch in Saskatchewan?
Saskatchewan is home to nearly 10,000 lakes and rivers and the best freshwater fishing in the world. Fly fishing, ice fishing, drive-in or fly-in, you’ll have no shortage of choice for the catch of the day! Rainbow trout is a favourite among fishers in Saskatchewan, as well as the popular northern pike. Large- and small-mouth bass are found in lakes and rivers with low currents, and you can also find arctic grayling and lake trout in the Saskatchewan waterways. Do I need drivers licence to drive a boat?
If you operate a motorized watercraft in Saskatchewan, you need a Pleasure Craft Operator Card, often called a Boating License. The good news is you can get your boat license much quicker than you drivers license – so there’s no delay in getting you out on the water. The requirement for boat drivers to hold a Pleasure Craft Operator Card regulations came into effect in 2009 to ensure safety on the water, and allow boaters to adequately prepare themselves before heading out. Do I need insurance?
